America Last?

An appropriate enough sign of the times:
US helping Egypt build border fence on Gaza frontier: American officials have agreed to a $23 million aid package from which most will go towards purchasing technology to prevent the fence from being perforated and for locating underground smuggling conduits, according to information received in the Israeli political circuit.
At $4 million per mile, DHS could use that money to get one-fifth of the 28-mile stretch devoted to a 'virtual fence'--that has still not become a reality, virtual or otherwise--walled off. That is, really walled off, with concrete and trenches and stuff.

Egypt needs defense from infiltration by terrorists, but America has the luxury to say offense is the best defense?

Being facetious is tough to do through text, so I changed the title to get my point across more directly.

two economists, Garrett Jones and Joel Scheider had published in 2005 on the net to the effect that “workers from countries with lower national average IQ have lower U.S. wages (even after controlling for education)” something I found on Chris Brand's old site, the link didn't copy here, but if you're interested, it might be worth using some of the above names or phrases as search terms
