Thompson throws in too late?

When Thompson announced that he'd created a "testing the waters" committee, and disclosed publicly that he'd raised millions of dollars for his campaign (not yet officially announced), my initial reaction was "Wow, talk about getting in late in the game!"

Then I actually started thinking a little and realized how early it really was. Even the primaries are more than half a year away. It's why I can't do politics every day--I'd go nuts. Heck, John Edwards was garnering 14% in the polls among Democratic hopefuls just a matter of weeks ago, and now he's in the single-digits. The caprice of political fortune will act up thusly for the next year.

I wonder in what 'off-year' mid-term election cycle will be overshadowed by the Presidential contest in two years down the road. It's already encroached, last November. Unfortunately, that the eclipse approaches is symbolically indicative of the waning power of the Congress relative to that of the Presidency.

Thompson is authentic, as is Giuliani in his crazy Italian fashion. Both strong, but Fred didn't have to run a Babylon run by Pravda liberals. I would love to see a ticket with Rudy on top and Fred as VP---if they could hold their noses and do a deal.

Down here in S. Florida, Rudy rules.

Now if only we could get Thomas Sowell to run...

I'd back Sowell in a heartbeat!
